Taunya T.D. Said: Empowering Young Readers Through Relatable Stories

My Story

Taunya T.D. Said is a children's book author and mentor for tweens, ages 9-12, whose passion for writing was ignited 12 years ago. After facing a series of rejections from traditional publishers, Taunya discovered the world of self-publishing. Though her initial experience with a vanity publisher was disheartening, she persevered. Inspired by her now 28-year-old daughter's vibrant journey through school and college, Taunya returned to her writing with renewed vigor. Within four years, she successfully published the captivating chapter series "Smart Alec Alex, The Series" and the interactive journal "It's My Own Journal and I'll Write If I Want To...

My Story

Taunya created "Smart Alec Alex, The Series" to foster a sense of belonging among young readers through relatable stories and lighthearted humor. The series delves into life lessons that aid children in their decision-making and problem-solving skills during their formative years. By navigating various situations alongside the characters, children learn to avoid escalating conflicts and stay true to themselves. Taunya's work aims to empower tweens, reminding them of their positive influence and helping them withstand peer pressure. Through her engaging stories, Taunya encourages young readers to embrace their individuality and make thoughtful choices as they navigate the complexities of growing up.

Within the four years of publishing, Smart Alec Alex, The Series, I have gained a wealth of knowledge that has been beneficial to me in my self-publishing journey.

I have been approached by many for advice on self-publishing and other various questions, after witnessing the progress of my books. Mentoring and supporting fellow authors is a fulfilling way for me to give back to the community and contribute to the success of others. I am always happy to help my fellow Authors.
